I just caught up with Realms Deep 2023, you know, to stay in the loop about all the cool games 3D Realms has cooking up. So, let's chat about the awesome stuff they're bringing! Can't wait to hear any news about games featuring Shelly 'Bombshell' Harrison!
Phantom Fury on Steam (Demo)
Phantom Fury, the second installment after Ion Fury. This shooter emphasizes interactive elements and destructible elements while immersing players in an engaging world. Shelly Harrison, an iconic character in her own right and now equipped with her robotic arm, continues her adventures. Exciting news! There's a demo available for Phantom Fury right now, allowing players to sample the action-packed experience with Shelly. Imagine the Duke Nukem Forever E3 2001 trailer and they just made the Game.
As we've got gameplay footage to check out! It seems to share some similarities with Half-Life, and that's a massive compliment.
I am already loading the Demo.
Ion Fury Aftershock brings the double dose of excitement. Not only do we get Phantom Fury, but you'll also dive into the Ion Fury DLC Episode.
Heskel just can't seem to stay down. Our heroine's quest for a relaxing drink is going to have to wait once more.
Having followed Selaco for some time now, the release of a new trailer left me astounded. It showcased an abundance of particle effects and even faster-paced gunplay gameplay. It's almost hard to believe that this game is built upon the GZDoom engine, as it pushes the boundaries of what's possible in this familiar engine
Core Decay channels the spirit of Deus Ex, delivering an immersive sim experience that celebrates choice. You'll have numerous paths to problem-solving, whether it's stealth, talking, or direct action. If you're a fan of Deus Ex, Core Decay promises to be right up your alley.
Arc Zeed caught me by surprise with its mecha action gameplay. Customizing my own loadouts in an isometric, round-based format with an anime-style, pixelated aesthetic was not on my radar.
Outpost Infinity Siege is where tower defense meets sci-fi shooter, and it's got mechas in the mix for some added excitement! wasn't on my radar.
Quick Round
Prodeus: The Elder Veil seems like an unexpected but exciting marriage of Prodeus with the gameplay styles of Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal. It's a fusion that caught my attention.
The Age of Hell feels like Warhammer 40K meeting Hexen in an exciting mashup.
Combustion is an intriguing blend of dieselpunk aesthetics and action RPG gameplay, with a unique furry twist. Its visual style harkens back to the nostalgic charm of PlayStation 1 graphics, adding a layer of retro appeal to the overall experience.
Abyssus? It's that kind of co-op shooter that's perfect for a wild night with drunken friends, promising a boatload of fun!
Twisted Tower is like a thrilling collision of Bioshock's atmospheric and the adrenaline-pumping action of a boomer shooter.
Mullet Mad Jack is like a cyberpunk anime on overdrive, with gameplay that's all about speed. Blink, and you'll be out in just 10 seconds if you stand still. It's a fast and furious shooter that keeps you on your toes!
The Red Selene is a thrilling fusion of Metroidvania gameplay with a sci-fi horror twist, all beautifully rendered in a captivating 2D pixel art style.
Tempest Rising seems like it could be the next best thing to scratch that Command & Conquer itch.
CULTIC new episode: "Interlude" looks pretty good, but then again, we've come to expect nothing less.
Ripout is giving off some serious vibes reminiscent of the original Prey game and Doom3.
Kingpin Reloaded made an appearance, and while I'm not overly hyped about it, I did play the original. Having a modern version without the polygon warping is a nice touch.
Setting aside discussions about double-A or other classifications, it's heartening to see such a vibrant and active developer scene thriving alongside the mainstream gaming industry, consistently delivering exceptional experiences.
There were even more highlights, but I'll pause the list here. It's more of a reminder to keep an eye on, and one thing's for sure: we can't complain about having a shortage of great games to play. It seems there was also a lot of medieval-themed content, though that's not my top priority.
While some cringe-worthy moments were to be expected, It was overRealmingly good to watch.
