Fida Puti Samurai review //

Fida Puti Samurai delivers a thrilling and fast-paced FPS experience that will resonate strongly with fans of classic boomer shooters. The game excels in providing a nostalgic yet fresh gameplay feel, despite lacking modern mechanics like sliding or dodging.

Gameplay:

The gameplay is the highlight of Fida Puti Samurai. It is incredibly fast-paced and reminiscent of old-school shooters, requiring quick reflexes and strategic weapon use. The weaponry in the game is particularly impressive, with most weapons feeling satisfying and powerful. The auto-fire shotgun stands out, not only for its devastating power but also for its killer sound design that enhances the immersive experience.

Graphics and World Design:

The game features a retro-style aesthetic that may initially seem simple but adds a unique charm to the experience. The world is charged with sexual themes, but the retro graphics style ensures that it remains suggestive with sometimes being explicit. This approach balances the mature themes with a visual style that doesn’t take itself too seriously, which can be refreshing. It also is important for the main "plot".

Difficulty and Progression:

Fida Puti Samurai incorporates a Roguelike progression system, where players will initially find themselves dying quickly. Always pushed by the erasing wall. That wall is also the main pusher when we explore for secrets in the randomized maps. However, each run allows you to retain more weapons, clothes, and helpful items you have to purchase, gradually making it easier to progress further. This system keeps the early game challenging but eventually leads to more trivial end-game runs as you become more powerful. It also enables you to get into more secrets, because we can start with TNT to open cracked walles for example. Reaching the end multiple times is necessary to uncover the full story, but it doesn't completely feel pushed on you.

Overall Experience:

One of the most enjoyable aspects of "Fida Puti Samurai" is its ability to blend fast, frenetic action with a progression system that rewards perseverance. The weapon mechanics and sound design are good, particularly the standout auto-fire shotgun that becomes a Boss deleter, especially when upgraded. While the game can become easier over time, the initial challenge and the need to replay for story completion keep it engaging when you can look over the visuals.

Recommendation:

If you are a fan of retro FPS games and enjoy a good Roguelike challenge, "Fida Puti Samurai" is a game you shouldn't miss. Its blend of fast-paced action, satisfying weaponry, and a unique progression system offers a fresh take on the genre. Despite its mature themes, the retro graphics ensure it remains accessible and fun with crossing into explicit territory. The whole world was created as an escapism by and for Ahn. To be fair, the general story is not very deep, but very relatable. you need a few completed runs to see everything.
